Mo Willems is best known for his Elephant and Piggie books, which have simple storylines and children find them funny. Those books have a warm core, however, that is missing in this book.

This book is for older readers (5-8 year olds) and the book is based on the classic “Goldilocks and The Three Bears” story, except that instead of the bears, we have dinosaurs. And here, the dinosaurs are looking to entrap Goldilocks (and eat her). The author uses this story to make fun of the classic (why did the bears heat the porridge bowls to differing temperatures? and why did Goldilocks walk into a stranger’s house?) in a gratuitous manner. I saw no fun in the story, except that the author wanted to point out the illogic of the original classic.

Don’t go out of your way to get this book.
