This book was amazing and probably my favorite book in the world.

The plot of the book revolves around a father and daughter who have the power to bring characters from books into the real world, when they read the book aloud. Many years ago, before the book begins, the father (Mo) reads aloud a dangerous villain into life (along with other characters from the book), and his wife disappears into the book’s world. When the book begins, one of the characters from the book comes back into their life.

There were many things I liked about the book. The plot revolves around the main characters’ love for books. The father is a book-binder and loves books. So do the daughter and the aunt, who has a huge library. I found that easy to relate to.

Another theme I liked was the gracious, kind nature of both Mo and Meggie – they help a character from the book (Dustfinger) even though he betrays them in hopes of getting back to the book’s world.

The book is also fast-paced with a lot of edge-of-the-seat adventure. The book is grim at times, and has some scary parts. I would recommend it for older readers.
